To celebrate today’s launch, Retroware has released a new demo launch trailer. Watch as the fame-hungry hero Simon whips his way across the Transylvanian countryside, shatters skeletons, and makes the undead legions wish they were never reborn in the trailer below.

Action Mode — Skip the small talk and go straight to Bram Mansion.

An alternate route through the region

Clocking in at more than 20 minutes, the new video features a clown car full of creative insight from the Mega Cat Studios team, exploring the game’s origins, inspirations, art direction, and audio design. The developers discusses how classic action films of the 1980s and 1990s influenced Lethal Wedding’s over-the-top action, how the cult classic SNES and Genesis shooter Zombies Ate My Neighbors helped shape its chaotic co-op gameplay, and the technical tricks used to push Genesis hardware to its limits.

The vlog also takes viewers behind the scenes of the game’s audio production, including collaboration with Team Fat, the legendary composers behind Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and dives into the surprisingly nuanced challenge of creating the perfect video game shotgun.

About Lethal Wedding

When a drug ring of criminal clowns crashes a bachelor party and kidnaps the groom-to-be, it’s up to the bride and her mother-in-law to mount a rescue. Players will battle their way through psychopathic circus performers, bazooka-toting bearded ladies, and murderous mobsters across over 30 levels of carnage, all while juggling mother-daughter issues, wedding planning, and…literal jugglers.

Team up with a friend for intense couch co-op gameplay, and beware the innovative Vow System, which keeps the stakes high by challenging players to complete randomized objectives before reaching the end of each stage. You know what they say, “till death do us part!”

Will you and your partner make it to the altar? Prepare to Bride Hard when Lethal Wedding is live on Kickstarter now, and find out if you can survive the ultimate test of loyalty.

REVIEW:

Now the first question on some peoples mind is, “Why am I reviewing a game like this?” This is not a retro game. This is not an 8-bit game. We are confused. Are you that lonely?

Well, yes, I’m still single, so leave me alone. LOL. I needed some dating tips, leave me alone. LOL. But to be honest, there are real reasons to my madness. Let me explain.

Years ago, we were graced with some very awful yet cult classic games that attempted to use live action video technology. Not referring to the Dragon’s Lair franchise because those are awesome! But more of the Night Trap, Phantasmagoria, The 7th Guest games. The technology was just not yet ready for the times yet and some of the video segments turned out to be extremely awful in some or the acting was just too embarrassing to watch.

Enter Ten Dates from Wales Interactive. An interactive movie game that places you as either Misha or Ryan and takes you on a quest to meet your true love. You head to a bar and go on four speed dates to get to know someone it what truly seems like a real experience. During the date, you are faced with decisions to make of how the conversations will go or not go. In the end, you decide if there I anyone you would like to take on another date and try to get to know better.

The experience takes approximately 30 minutes to play and it doesn’t sit still. When the moment to decide what to do comes up, you are forced to choose what to do within approximately 10-15 seconds. Unlike playing other games, you can’t sit and make choices. Because of this, the video moves very flawlessly without any glitches or pauses. Also, to add to the experience, the acting is not bad at all. Two friends going to a bar to meet people….. It doesn’t get any more real than that. Although, the athlete, Toni, stretching at the table was a little awkward at first.

But back to why I even played and reviewed this game. Even though it is set in the current times and topics and there is no retro theme, it is the video quality improvements were what I was interested in, and it didn’t disappoint at all. It was flawless and glitches. It was like watching a tv show without the commercials.

Also the extreme no to the Choose Your Own Adventure concept was never lost from those old books and also Sierra games. The interactiveness of the game is very well laid out. You get to go to the persons profile to look more into their lifestyle to see if it matches what you are looking for.

If there is one complaint I have about this game, it’s wishing I tried this about a month before Valentines Day. I did try speed dating, and to be perfectly honest, it just sucked. After watching this game, I could have taken a few notes. But also watching the game shows that other companies should go back and redo their games to make them look as good as these did. There were no green-screens also. So it was more of an internal experience. Very entertaining!

With that in mind, we need your help:

Please take a look at the attached images of our <s>three</s> four colorways (we’ve officially decided to also offer red at launch!) and take this survey on which one you’ll be ordering. This will help us ensure you get the color you want, as we start shipping in a few months.

Now, more about M64. It contains one of the most special PCBAs in any consumer hardware that we know of. Black pre-preg and a clear soldermask with gold traces. See image below. There is a reason you never see this – it’s expensive and takes forever, but the result is truly beautiful.

M64 will boot into gameplay in 4-5 seconds and contains an ultra low latency bluetooth device which pairs with our wired/wireless ultimate trident controller, which will come shortly after M64.

M64 is full of mechanical easter eggs. A hot pink hidden latch under the cartridge flaps can optionally keep them open all the time. An easy eject mechanism allows you to eject the cartridge without pulling the console off the ground. A special light pipe will uplight the cartridge so you can see your game art in the dark.

As you have come to expect from us, we will be continually working at a rapid pace on firmware after the device ships, and will tell you what’s in the pipeline as we go.
