The Quarter Barrel is a pizzeria/bar/brewery/arcade located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You heard that right: We’re a brewery. Yeah, half of the 24 draught beers we have on tap were brewed right here in house. We firmly believe that there’s a beer for everyone, and we’ll keep throwing fun and obscure beer styles at the wall to see what sticks. Oh, but we’re not *just* a brewery. We’re also a pizzeria. A damned good pizzeria. We prep nearly everything from scratch. We source a lot of our ingredients from local farmers. We seek out the best ingredients that we can and manage to keep our prices competitive. Are we “farm to table”? Well, yeah. But we’re not going to throw around that label as an excuse to overcharge you. And we’re family friendly. Bring your kids. As long as our kitchen is open, we allow minors. So get your kids out of the house and enjoy a beer while your little ones enjoy some arcade history. But get them out the door when we stop serving food. Let the adults have some fun. Wait… Did I not mention that we’re also an arcade? Video games are 25¢ (there are even a few on free play); Pinball is 50¢ (well, the newest game is still set at $1). We focus on machines from the golden age of video arcade games (’78-’86) and we are making an effort to bring in some fun 4-player games from the 90s so that you can socialize while you play!
Brad has been a die hard arcade fan ever since he can remember. From the first time he played Space Invaders, to the first time he played Pacman, Brad has always had a love for video games. Hanging out at either the Great American Fun Factory in the mall, or spending the night in front of the glowing games at the local roller rink, he was always thinking about when he can spend the next quarter.
He also worked at Babbages, which is now GameStop, for over six years. Mostly because they had a really sweet checkout policy on new products and great discounts. But since he had the Atari 2600, he has never looked back and owned some of the greatest home machines, NES, SNES, GENESIS, Turbo Graphix 16, GameBoy, Game Gear, Lynx, Playsation 1,2,3,4 and Vita, XBOX, Gamecube, and N64...just to name a few.
Brad is also a reviewer for Mobile Beat Magazine as well as a freelance videographer, part time disc jockey, performing artist and photographer. But has a true love is for video games and Star Wars, as he is a member of the 501st Central Garrison.
His ultimate dream is to own a fully working pinball machine and arcade machine. Difficult to say which one, but a Star Wars one would be nice start.
