Communal & convivial bar for Starry Kitchen eats, craft beer & vintage arcade games. Classic arcades from the 70’s-90’s. Pinball from all eras. Local beers on draft. Orange Bang. Pan-Asian comfort food. Echo Park.
We opened our first location in Denver’s LoDo neighborhood on March 23, 2011. While the concept was unique to Denver, we love to give credit where credit is due. The first arcade bar concepts were born at Portland, Oregon’s Ground Kontrol and Brooklyn, New York’s Barcade.
At The 1up – LoDo we offer our own twist on the arcade bar concept. It features more than 45 classic arcade games, 16 pinball machines, three lanes of classic Skee-Ball and multiple sets of Giant Jenga. If playing all those games makes you hungry, order something delicious from our kitchen. We offer burgers, wings, a full array of appetizers and many other of your favorites. We feature 14 beers on tap served from taps custom built into a classic arcade game. We also offer our Hall-of-Fame collection of classic beers in vintage cans, a solid selection of 40 oz bottles of malt liquor and a full bar featuring all your favorite liquors. We even have a Touch Tunes jukebox so you can select your favorite music.
On June 5, 2012, we opened a second location in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The 1up – Colfax boasts the largest collection of pinball machines in the metro area and one of the largest in Colorado. Our arcade bar features more than 90 classic arcade games, 42 pinball machines, 6 lanes of classic Skee-Ball, and multiple sets of Giant Jenga making it the largest arcade bar in the nation. We feature 12 beers on tap as well as offer our Hall-of-Fame collection of classic beers in vintage cans, a solid selection of 40 oz bottles of malt liquor and a full bar featuring all your favorite liquors. We even have a Touch Tunes jukebox so you can select your favorite music.
Barcade® is a combination bar and arcade with a focus on classic video games and American craft beer. There are locations in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Connecticut, owned by four friends; Paul Kermizian, Pete Langway, and brothers Kevin and Scott Beard.
The original Barcade was opened in 2004 in a former metal shop on Union Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. At the time of the opening, Kevin and Scott were working in graphic design, Paul in film and television, and Pete in advertising. Paul had just completed directing the feature film “American Beer”, a road trip documentary profiling the American craft beer industry, and the friends were spending time drinking craft beer and playing the classic 1980’s video games that lined the walls of Paul’s Williamsburg loft.
Those beer and game filled nights inspired the group to open a neighborhood bar centered on American craft beer and classic video games. They quit their day jobs, maxed out their credit cards and began work on Barcade.
