A Look at the Playmaji Hardware
The hardware was launched at the E3 2018 Conference held in Los Angeles from June 12 to 14, 2018. Playmaji had released their idea and user interface in 2017 at the very same conference and this year presented again to raise money for licensing games and opened their window for pre-booking, which received a lot of support from the visitors. According to Bryan Bernal, CEO and co-founder of Playmaji, his company raised $500,000 from an undisclosed angel investor in 2017, which will be dedicated to launch and manage Polymega’s pre-order campaign that will begin in the next three months.

There are several other retro consoles available in the market including Hyperkin’s SNES, Hyperkin’s SNES, and Retroengine but there are no match to Playmaji’s Polymega. It is an all in one gaming console that will have all games in one place and can also be streamed live to YouTube or Twitch.
Licensing games
Bernal also mentioned that they look forward to licensing at least 50 to 100 games by fourth quarter of this financial year but until that happens, the players will have to use the cartridges they have to play games. Eric Christensen, co-founder, Playmaji and Bernal worked together at Insomniac Games, where Bernal worked on the Ratchet and Clank game series.
How Much is It Going to Cost You?
That’s surely one of the things you are probably thinking when trying to get hold of this one. Well, the pricing is competitive to say the least, and Polymega has ensured that they price it lower than its competitors.
As per the new pricing, Polymega hardware costs $249.99 and users will have to pay another $59.99 for transferring games from other consoles to this one. Playmaji has designed the controllers to resemble classic Sega and NES system designs. Bernal and Christensen are currently preparing for larger money raising rounds for licensing of additional games. They hope to anywhere anywhere between $2 to $3 million and also mentioned that talks are under progress with Capcom, Konami, and Sega.
Polymega hardware has a great success potential because there’s no other company that is working on what they are. Sega has its own gaming platform, where you can play their old games but it is too limited.
