In the late ‘90s, the Nintendo 64 was the king of multiplayer gaming. In addition to standout single-player titles, there was a notable emphasis on group play, with four controller ports and a variety of excellent titles to try. One of the earliest and most memorable games was Mario Party (N64, 1998), a simple but addictive party game that featured all the major Nintendo mascot characters. A mixture of virtual board game and mini-game collection, Mario Party hit the ground running in 1998 and hasn’t stopped since, with new entries in the franchise still popping up to this day.
