When people hear the name Donkey Kong there are many thoughts that might enter into their minds. The most obvious thought might be the arcade game that was released in 1981 that became Nintendo’s first arcade smash hit selling over 170,000 units and generating over 2 billion dollars in revenue from 1981 through 1983. Maybe you weren’t around for the arcade game and instead you think of the very successful documentary film The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters which portrays Steve Wiebe’s attempts to break the Donkey Kong high score world record. Perhaps you remember one of the various Donkey Kong sequels released in quick succession after Donkey Kong took over the world. Donkey Kong Jr, Donkey Kong 3, or Mario Bros. (more of a Mario spin off). There is also a really strong chance if you are subscriber to this magazine that you grew up playing one of video game console ports of Donkey Kong on the Atari 2600, Intellivision, Colecovision, Atari 8-Bit, TI-99/4A, IBM PC…..
