For those who love old-school Shoot-Em-Ups, Retro-Bit’s release of R-Type DX will have an exclusive pre-order run through Nov. 1.
“The epic arcade shoot ’em up returns in R-Type DX! In our first-ever Game Boy Color release, you can enjoy the first two entries of the series on your handheld in both classic and color-enhanced versions,” Retro Bit said on their YouTube Page. “Then take it a bit further with DX mode and play both titles back-to-back. Also, don’t miss the accompanying soundtracks available on vinyl or compact disc so you can keep the epic tunes going well after the space war has ended.”
From Retro-Bit:
A deep-space probe has discovered a massive invasion force from the Bydo Empire heading straight for Earth. A full-scale assault would doom the planet, so our only chance is for a single pilot to take the latest R-Type fighter to penetrate their defenses and destroy the empire’s forces with precision before they can strike. Now you can own five games in one! R-Type and R-Type II in classic and color-enhanced versions, plus a new R-Type DX mode that combines both games into a single continuous playthrough.
