PORTLAND RETRO GAMING EXPO

October 13 – 15, 2023

Oregon Convention Center

777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97232

Who needs luck on Friday the 13th when you’ve got a gaming convention?

Experience the ultimate tribute to gaming heritage and culture at the renowned Portland Retro Gaming Expo!

Video game fans from across the world will come together in Portland on October 13 – 15, 2023 for the 16th Portland Retro Gaming Expo (PRGE).

PRGE is the largest convention of its kind in the U.S., featuring over 300 exhibitors, hours of panels on gaming development, history and culture, and thousands of games to play from over 45 years of gaming history in over 200k square feet of space. The “Retrocade” includes hundreds of arcade and pinball titles and hundreds more home console games ready to play.

The Blockbuster World Video Game Championship is returning for 2023!

In the mid-’90s, at the height of the Sega / Nintendo rivalry, Blockbuster held two competitions retro gamers fondly remember. Hosted by the Portland Retro Gaming Expo and powered by Double Jump Events, the Blockbuster World Video Game Championship is back! This event will create new memories for a new generation and is free to enter for all PRGE attendees!

PRGE has teamed up with Blockbuster to recreate their iconic store for the weekend!

Swing by the Blockbuster Experience room to grab an updated Blockbuster card and chat with Sandi Harding, the General Manager of the Last Blockbuster on the planet. Be kind and rewind to a simpler time; a different time when the Sega Saturn dominated the 32-bit wars and the Atari Jaguar was the best-selling cartridge-based 64-bit system. A time when the Blockbuster World Video Game Championship is about to take place…

Few things get us more excited each year than our signature Saturday night auction featuring something for everyone.

Highlights of PRGE include tournaments on classic games by Atari, Nintendo, and Sega, a curated video game museum, panels from video game veterans and popular YouTube personalities, the Angry Video Game Nerd, a concert by Rex Viper, Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Entertainment and the annual Classic Tetris World Championship where players from around the world will compete for the title of World’s Best Tetris Player.

And fellow gamer and comedian Ryan Niemiller (aka Cripple Threat from America’s Got Talent) will join PRGE for a panel and a comedy show.

The PRGE arcade will be open from Friday at 12:00 noon to 10:00 PM in Hall E. The arcade plus the exhibitor floor and panels will open on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM and Sunday at 10:00 AM.

PRGE is a family friendly, all-ages event that is open to the public.  Attendees who purchase the Power Pass get early access and other benefits.
