Survival Horror games are one of the industry’s most successful genres. While they’ve existed for decades, the niche truly began to blossom on the PlayStation. Here’s a handful of games that you may have missed that truly kickstarted the movement.

The City of Lost Children: Not exactly survival horror, but it does get pretty scary. This is an absolute gem.

Overblood: This game has not aged well at all, thanks to sub-par voice-acting, but it’s still a cool title worth checking out.

Fear Effect: This is easily one of the most underrated series on the PlayStation.

D: A game totally ahead of its time. It has t aged great, but there are still some memorable moments.

Parasite Eve: You’ve definitely heard of this one. You’ve definitely seen videos on it, but have you played it? It’s one of the best games on the PlayStation, but continues this day to be super under appreciated.
