Our next Trading Card Spotlight features Steve “Mr. Wright Way” Wright Jr. who is currently displayed on card number 3971, from the Superstars of 2021 Collection.  Mr. Wright Way is a Retired United State Navy Veteran who has always had a passion for video games, toys and photography. His YouTube channel currently has over 11,000 subscribers. You can catch his weekly videos as he shows you collection videos, game hunting and how to get deals, The Wright Way. Steve has also photographed for Pro wrestling companies like WWE, AEW, NJPW and more.

When did you begin your YouTube channel and what inspired you to do so?  

I’ve had a YouTube channel since 2009, it was mostly photography and tech stuff. I let it sit for years until the start of the pandemic. My Wife suggested to me that I should take it more seriously and I did.

Do you remember your first video game / arcade you played and what do you remember about it?

My first arcade game I remember playing was Ms. Pac Man.  It was at a local pizza hut and my first video game I played was Super Mario Bros for the NES, it was at K-Mart. All I wanted to do when I found SMB was get the flower, to shoot fire lol.

What are your opinions about today’s generation of video games?  How do you compare them to older, classic games? 

I think gaming today day is a lot better, if you told me as a kid, I would be able to play the entire Nintendo library on a cell phone, my little head would’ve exploded.

Did you ever think when you were younger you would be on a video game trading card? 

Nope, I was hoping to be on a video game box art.

If you could describe Walter Day in one word, what would that word be and why?

ICONIC, he has put his name in the video game history books. That’s something to be said about that!

What is your favorite portable gaming device and why?

My iPhone, it’s the one device that I NEED, it can do everything like film in 4K, play games, order food, play video games and take amazing photos. It’s such an amazing piece of tech.

Do you prefer arcade or console gaming and why?

I’m a console gamer at heart. I just love the look of the systems, the shape of the controllers and the different games for each system.

What games today do you play and what are your favorite genres of games?

I love fighting games like Street Fighter, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat act.

Which console company is your favorite and why?  Nintendo, Sony, Sega, or Microsoft?

That easy, it’s Sony. I love their products from the Walkman, Home Theater systems, Blu-ray and the PlayStation.

What is your favorite YouTube episode you have done so far, and what makes it special?

My Next One!!

How does video game music influence games past and present? 

I think iconic music like Super Mario Bros, to Mega Man 2 that music touched so people today and it has inspired so many people in all walks of life. You can have a Super Mario ringtone go off and someone will smile. Video Game Music IS MUSIC!

If someone wanted to start a podcast, what advice would you give them today?

Study the greats, don’t copy them, find out what you like and dislike. Then add 100% YOU and Never Give Up!

What is your favorite PlayStation game and why?

Spider-Man Miles Morales. I can relate so much to this game. My Wife is Puerto Rican and that game taught me a lot about her culture. If we have a child one day, they will be Half Black/ Puerto Rican. I hope they will become something great that will inspire millions.

Do you believe some video games are too violent and lead to violence in America today?

No. People need to be responsible for the actions they do!

Are video games good for relieving stress?

Yes. Have you played Animal Crossing?

What other topics for your channel are you interested in and what would you like to see more of?

I will cover more current gen, current topics in video games, and more reviews.

Who is your favorite video game character and what makes that character special?

Ken Masters he’s an American Badass!

What springs to mind when you hear the word ‘YouTube’?

Opportunity mixed with fun and hard work.

Do you find boss battles to be the best part of a video game?

NOPE Unless its Bowser, lol!

What is your favorite multiplayer game?

Turtles In Time!

If you can design your own game, what would it be about and who would be the main character?

A game with me and my Wife going to different towns to track down all the trolls that cause trouble on Facebook on YouTube. It is like Jay and Silent Bob lol.

Where do you see video gaming in the next 10 years?

I really think it will be mostly digital
