Hills Department Store in Anderson, Indiana, 1987. I’m gazing, completely entranced, in front of a giant display of hundreds of Nintendo games hanging from hooks. The white tile floor felt as if it recognized the weight of my shoes upon it. There are far too many games for my little eyes to take in at once, including the original black, pixelated boxes of Donkey Kong and Popeye, the baby blue cover of Mario 2, and of course, the glow of gold from the original Legend of Zelda. Could that be  real gold peering through the little window in the front of the box? Euphorically moving from box to box, I’m overtaken by the sights…
